NEW RELEASES FROM OPEN SKY RECORDS / VOICEPRINT!

STOP PRESS - 'From Silence' CD and 'Iona DVD' (reissue) are now in stock!

'From Silence' is to be the name of the next cd release on Open Sky Records/ Voiceprint. The past month or so has been a busy time for Troy and Dave with the result being TWO albums brand new albums pending! First to be released will be the live recording of the duo's Lincoln Cathedral performance of 27th October. This completely improvised performance was recorded in binaural stereo, which is a dynamic recording method which featured the engineer Dallas Simpson walking around during the recording (in thick white socks!) with his specially designed microphones attached to his ears! The result, which is optimised for headphone listening, (but also sounds great played back on speakers) is a stunning, organic recording which really captures the ambience of the cathedral and an amazing involvement in the music, as Dallas choreographed his movements between the two musicians and the cathedral's surroundings. The recording features the music exactly as it was played, with no overdubs or edits to the running order. Both Troy and Dave are extremely excited with the result. We hope that this album will be available in December or January. The event was also filmed for future DVD release. 'When World's Collide' is the other pending release from Troy and Dave. The album features five tracks recorded live from the duo's gig at The Studio in Hartlepool in November 2003 and five newly recorded studio tracks. With a mix of Dave and Troy's take on several traditional tunes and new versions of tracks from Iona and Troy albums, this promises to be a pleasing blend of the acoustic and dramatic soundscapes that the duo are renowned for. This album should be available early in the new year. The provisional running order is; 1. The Great Silkie of Sules Skerry 2. Trip to Athlone / Michael Gillıs Favourite 3. When Worldıs Collide* 4. Greenfields of Canada* 5. Edge of the World* 6. Bi-Se I Mo Shuil - Part 1 (solo acoustic guitar version) 7. Unconscious (Piano solo) 8. Conscious* 9. The Blacksmith's / Banish Misfortune / Merrily Kiss the Quaker 10. Tunnels*

* = live tracks

2005 will also see our first DVD releases, with several in the pipeline. First off the blocks will be:

'Iona', which is a half hour documentary on the band originally filmed and released on video (but long since deleted) back in 1990 /91. This catches up with Dave, Jo, Frank and co-founder David Fitzgerald as the musicians contemplated ideas for a follow up to the debut Iona album. Featuring location footage from the beautiful Scottish islands of Mull and Iona as well as some vintage live footage from one of the band's first ever gigs, this is a must for all Iona completists. Due out in December or January.

'The Eye of the Eagle' - delayed because of production hold ups, this beautifully shot document of David Fitzgerald and Dave Bainbridge's 1998 collaboration, filmed by Anglia TV, features concert footage from the works premier at Norwich Cathedral as well as in depth interview footage. Originally released on video but deleted several years ago, the DVD version includes additional footage not seen before. Expected early 2005

Also currently in production is a 'Voiceprint Introspective Series' Iona DVD, which will feature interview and archive footage not previously released and promises to be an excellent overview of the band's history for those new to Iona's music. And of course the 'Iona - Live in London' DVD will be available early in the new year - so if you haven't already booked tickets to be there on 18th November, you still have time!
